Candidates must pass a rigorous proctored exam covering four competency areas — legislation & regulatory compliance, physical security & risk management, records management & information security, and destruction systems & safety — with a passing score of 85%. The designation requires 20 continuing education units (CEU) annually to maintain, earned through attending industry events, webinars, and publishing or presenting on relevant topics.
